BEML Wins Rs. 1,888 Crore Order for Passenger Coaches

Bharat Earth Movers Ltd. (BEML) has secured an order worth Rs. 1,888 crore from Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, for supplying passenger coaches.

Under this contract, BEML will manufacture, supply, test, and commission Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB)* passenger coaches. These coaches will include day variants as well as sleeper variants. The delivery of these coaches to ICF, Chennai is expected to be completed over a period of 15 months. However, the company has not disclosed the number of coaches which will be supplied under this contract.

Commenting on the order, Mr. Shantanu Roy, Chairman & Managing Director of BEML Ltd., said, “This order underscores BEML’s strong partnership with Indian Railways and our commitment to delivering globally benchmarked passenger rolling stock”.

*LHB coaches, originally developed by the German company Linke-Hofmann-Busch, feature lightweight stainless-steel bodies, anti-telescopic design, and advanced suspension systems. These coaches are an upgrade from the ICF rail coaches in terms of safety and top speed.
