ArcelorMittal Nippon JV to Develop Steel Processing Lines at Hazira

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM / NS India), a joint venture between Luxembourg-based ArcelorMittal and Japan’s Nippon Steel, will be setting up a new Cold Rolling Mill and a continuous steel galvanising line in Hazira, Gujarat. The new Cold Rolling Mill and the galvanising line will be set up at the former Essar Steel Plant at Hazira, and will produce value-added steel coils and sheets.

These projects are part of the company’s planned Rs. 8,500 crore expansion. Work has already commenced on building the Cold Rolling Mill, and it will be commissioned in 2024.

This unit will include a 2 MTPA pickling line and tandem Cold Rolling Mill, and a continuous galvanising and annealing line with 1 MTPA capacity which will produce steel coils with Aluminum-Silicon coating. Apart from this, two continuous galvanising lines of 0.5 MTPA capacity each will be set up at the Hazira plant. One shall produce flat steel for exposed automotive panels, and the other will produce galvanised steel products for specific industry segments.
