ABB India Launches New Range of Circuit Breakers

ABB India Ltd., the manufacturer of electrical equipment and engineering services provider has launched Formula DIN-Rail, a new range of Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs), Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCBs) and Isolators.

ABB India, in its press release said that with launch of new Circuit breaker range it will be targeting Indian electrical MCB, RCCB and isolator retail market which is estimated to be worth INR 1800 Crore (250 million USD). Formula DIN-Rail range circuit breakers are being manufactured at ABB’s Smart Buildings Factory located in Bengaluru.

ABB’s Formula DIN-Rail circuit breakers range provides protection to electrical circuits from possible damages caused by overload, short circuits, and earth leakages in buildings. The circuit breakers come with seven-year warranty. A valuable outcome of ABB’s quality control is that each ABB Formula DIN-Rail RCCB produced comes with a serial number connected test report which is engraved as a QR code on the RCCB.

The model number for MCB’s of this range is SW200 M, used for preventing an overload on the electrical circuit by tripping before the cable or circuit is damaged.

FW200 RCCBs in this range are meant to avoid electric shock from earth leakage current and SDW200 Isolators are used for separating a part of the circuit system for conducting secure maintenance activity.

Expressing his views on the launch Mr. CP Vyas, President – Electrification Business, ABB India said “Our range of protection devices is designed to significantly improve the electrical performance of both residential and commercial units, creating safe, sustainable homes and buildings for the future”.

Pole Configurations & Specifications of ABB’s Formula DIN-Rail

ABB Formula DIN-Rail range comes with different pole configurations (1P, 1P+N, 2P, 3P, 3P+N, 4P) and B/C tripping (different classes of tripping) characteristics for MCBs. The RCCBs of this range come with leakage sensitivity ranging from 10 mA to 1 A and Isolators have Isolation range up to 63 A. This range complies with IEC, UL, CSA standards.

Further throwing light on manufacturing technology of this new range of circuit breakers Mr. Kiran Dutt, Sr. Vice President, Smart Buildings Division, ABB India mentions “Formula DIN-Rail products are manufactured on a completely automated line. This automated line has a manufacturing cycle time of just one second. I think this is a great accomplishment of our team”.
