Lumino Industries to Double Cable & Conductor Capacity in West Bengal
Lumino Industries Limited, a manufacturer of cables, conductors, and wires, has announced a brownfield capacity expansion at its plant in Ranihati, Howrah district of West Bengal. This expansion will nearly double the company’s manufacturing capacity at the plant.
The company will fund this expansion through the capital raised from its recently launched IPO. Of the Rs. 500 crore to be raised through the fresh issue, Rs. 337 crore will be used for prepayment or repayment of debt, while the remaining Rs. 163 crore will be utilised for capital expenditure.
Expansion to Take Capacity to 75,000 Tonnes
Through this expansion, the company will focus on expanding its existing product categories and adding the capability to produce HT power cables up to 66 KV. The company is adding 35,000 tonnes per year of capacity to its existing capacity of 40,000 tonnes per year. Following the expansion, Lumino Industries’ manufacturing capacity will reach 75,000 tonnes per year.
This capacity augmentation will be done in three phases. In the first phase of development, the company will add 10,000 tonnes of capacity in second half of FY27. The second phase will be completed third quarter of FY28 with another addition of 11,000 tonnes. In the third and final phase of development, Lumino Industries will add the remaining 14,000 tonnes of capacity in Q1 FY29.
Commenting on the capacity expansion, Mr. Devendra Goel, Managing Director, Lumino Industries, said: “Looking ahead, the strategic priority will be to use the additional capacity to increase the contribution from specialised conductors and cables, including products for higher-voltage applications”.
Lumino Industries’ Other Manufacturing Facility in West Bengal
Apart from the aforementioned plant, Lumino Industries also has another manufacturing plant in Domjur, Howrah district of West Bengal. The products manufactured at this facility include Overhead Transmission Line Conductors, Aerial Bunched Cables, Control Cables & Power Cables, and Electrical Home & Domestic Wires.
The company also recently reported its Q1 FY27 financial results with revenue of Rs. 521 crore and profit after tax of Rs. 40 crore.
