Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited (VAML) has launched two new alloys under its Primary Foundry Alloy (PFA) range, expanding its automotive solutions portfolio. These new products are Copper-Doped Alloy and Vedanta Foundry Alloy (VFA).

Both products were launched at AutoEdge 2026 (second edition), a Vedanta Aluminium exclusive conclave for the automotive industry.

VAML has been listed on BSE: 544780 and NSE: VAML as a standalone, independent entity after Vedanta Limited’s structural demerger in 2026.

Product Specifications: Wide Range of Applications in Automotive Industry

Coming to product specifications, Copper-Doped Alloy has been developed for high-performance automotive applications. According to the company, this alloy capitalises on copper’s strengthening qualities for increased durability, wear resistance and performance at higher operating temperatures. These properties make the alloy compatible with critical engine, transmission, and powertrain components.

Meanwhile, Vedanta Foundry Alloy (VFA), developed in collaboration with IIT Delhi, focuses on combining lightweigthing with higher strength. Furthermore, it shows improved corrosion resistance and enhanced casting performance. The aforesaid qualities make this alloy suitable for a wide range of conventional and electric vehicle applications.

Strengthening Domestic Supply Chain, Curbing Import Dependence

Copper-Doped Alloy and VFA have both been specifically designed to cater to the automotive sector’s increasing demands for lighter, stronger and more efficient material solutions. Commenting on this demand for material, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Vedanta Aluminium, said, “Aluminium is uniquely positioned to meet these parameters through its versatile combination of lightweighting, strength, durability, resistance to corrosion, and high recyclability.”

Currently, India stands as the world’s largest market for two-wheelers and three-wheelers and the third-largest for passenger and commercial vehicles. Citing India’s global standing in automotive sector, Vedanta Aluminium emphasized that availability of locally produced automotive-grade alloys will bolster domestic sourcing, strengthen value chains, and reduce import dependency.
