Vikram Solar to Set Up 9 GW Wafer and Ingot Manufacturing Facility in TN

Vikram Solar Limited will establish a 9 GW wafer and ingot manufacturing facility at its mega complex in Gangaikondan, Tamil Nadu. The company plans to invest between Rs. 5,589 crore and Rs. 5,600 crore in developing the facility.

The project will be funded through a combination of debt and internal accruals. The new wafer and ingot manufacturing facility will provide backward integration for Vikram Solar’s solar cell and module manufacturing facility at the same complex.

Meanwhile, the investment for the solar cell and module manufacturing facility at the same complex is Rs. 2,574 crore. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 3 GW each for solar cells and modules.

Commercial production at the wafer and ingot facility is expected to commence by April 2029, while construction and ground preparation are scheduled to begin in September 2026.
