Havells Plans Rs. 255 Cr. CapEx For Karnataka Cable Plant

Havells India Limited, a manufacturer of cables and Fast-Moving Electrical Goods (FMEG), has approved a capital expenditure of Rs. 255 crore to expand the cable manufacturing capacity at its plant in the Vasanthnarasapura Industrial Area, Tumakuru, Karnataka.
Havells Karnataka Plant to Reach 7,34,640 ckm Annual Capacity
The approved investment will increase the Karnataka plant’s cable manufacturing capacity from 4,59,600 core km per annum to 7,34,640 core km per annum. The project will be funded through internal accruals and is expected to be completed by December 2027.
The Tumakuru facility was originally announced in 2024 with a planned investment of Rs. 300 crore, which was later revised to Rs. 450 crore in May 2025. The newly approved Rs. 255 crore investment is in addition to the capital expenditure already committed for the project.
The plant is being developed in phases. In the first phase, Havells commissioned 3,48,000 Km per annum of cable manufacturing capacity in September 2024. The second phase, completed in July 2026, increased the capacity to 4,59,600 Km per annum. With the completion of the third phase, the plant’s total manufacturing capacity will reach 7,34,640 Km per annum.
Havells Cable & Wire Business to Receive Majority of FY27 CapEx
During its Q1 FY27 earnings call, Havells announced a total capital expenditure plan of Rs. 1,400 crore for FY27. Of this, Rs. 800 crore has been earmarked to expand the company’s cable and wire business. We can deduce that the Karnataka plant is a part of this expansion.
Additionally, Rs. 200 crore will be invested in setting up a new Research & Development (R&D) Centre, although the company has not disclosed its location. The remaining Rs. 400 crore will be allocated to other business segments, including the Motors and Pumps business.
For Q1 FY27, Havells reported a 19.48% year-on-year increase in revenue to Rs. 6,518.19 crore. However, its net profit declined by 16.64% YoY to Rs. 289.71 crore.
Commenting on the company’s performance, Mr. Anil Rai Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of Havells India, said: “We delivered strong revenue growth in the first quarter as the demand was resilient despite inflationary pressures and the uncertainties arising from the West Asia situation”.
