POWERGEN India’s 20th Edition: Strong Industry Participation and Focus on RE

POWERGEN India & Indian Utility Week, India’s premier event dedicated to the power generation sector, was held from 2nd September 2025 to 4th September 2025 at the Yashobhoomi India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), Dwarka, New Delhi.
POWERGEN India & Indian Utility was co-located with SEMICON India 2025, which was also held from 2nd to 4th September 2025.
20th Edition of POWERGEN India & Indian Utility Week
POWERGEN India’s 20th edition was inaugurated by Mr. Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Former Secretary of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy; Mr. P.K. Pujari, Former Power Secretary and Former Chairman of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission; and Mr. Narendra Bhooshan, Additional Chief Secretary for Energy.
GE Vernova, an energy equipment manufacturing and services company, was the diamond partner for the 2025 edition of the event. ISGEC Heavy Engineering Ltd. and Suzlon were gold partners for POWERGEN India 2025, while other key partners included Polycab India, NTPC, ReNew, BSES, Kreate, Grid India, and Envision.
Exhibitors and Industry Participation
Prominent exhibitors included Polycab India, Meco Instruments Pvt. Ltd., GE Vernova, Grid Controller of India Ltd., Microtex Energy, Rays Power Infra, and Utkarsh India. Most of the showcases were directed towards energy transmission and Renewable Energy generation solutions.
GE Vernova’s Transmission & Distribution Offerings

GE Vernova showcased a wide range of its Transmission & Distribution (T&D) solutions at the event, including hardware as well as software offerings. The company highlighted its ‘Critical Infrastructure Communications’ offerings which deploy technologies such as FOTE MPLS-TP+SDH (Multiprotocol Label Switching-Transport Profile + Synchronous Digital Hierarchy), and Multi Point Teleprotection. Both of these offerings are used to relay important information about equipment performance and faults in the grid using optical fibre-based communication. Along with these, GE Vernova also showcased GridBeats at the event, which is GE Vernova’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML)-based monitoring and diagnostics solution for the power grid. GridBeats is a software-defined solution aimed at grid digitalisation to give operators better visibility and control over the grid.
Speaking with CableCommunity, Mr. Anil Upadhyay, Senior Customer Project Engineering Manager at GE Vernova, said that there has been a positive market response towards GE Vernova’s product offerings in India. He further added that the solar power generation in India has almost reached its peak, and the next major thing would be offshore wind energy projects as part of the country’s renewable energy growth. He added that this would mean laying of more High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) and Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS)-based transmission networks for power evacuation from these to-be-developed offshore wind power plants. Mr. Upadhyay mentioned this in the light of GE Vernova’s portfolio of HVDC and FACTS transmission offerings.
Meco Instruments Highlights Expanding Market for Measuring Devices

While speaking to CableCommunity, Mr. Prashant Thakkar, Marketing Manager (North India) at Meco Instruments Pvt. Ltd., shared that the Indian power generation and transmission industry is growing rapidly and steadily, and thereby there is a growing demand and market potential for measuring devices as well. About the response at the event, he mentioned that it was muted due to the co-located SEMICON India event.
At the exhibition, the company showcased its wide range of existing measuring device products. The product line displayed included digital multimeters, digital clamp meters, power meters, power and harmonics analyzers, and phase sequence indicators, which cater to the increasing needs of the electrical and power sector.
Suzlon Group Showcases its 3 MW Wind Turbine Series

Suzlon Group, a global Renewable Energy (RE) solutions provider, showcased its 3 MW wind turbine series at the exhibition.
According to the company, Suzlon’s S144 wind turbine generator is one of the largest in India. Power generation of this WTG is extendable up to 3.15 MW, subject to site wind conditions. This wind turbine has a hub height of 140 meters, making it one of the tallest and most powerful wind turbine models designed for the Indian market.
Polycab India Showcases Cable Accessories and Solar Inverter
Polycab India Limited also had a strong presence at the exhibition, where it showcased its range of cable accessories, switchgear, and distribution boxes at its stall in POWERGEN India. The company also presented its Dowells line of cable lugs and glands.

In addition to this, Polycab also showcased its 3-phase 15/12 Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) – 350 KW solar inverter at the event. This solar inverter is capable of optimising power output by adjusting voltage and current output from solar panels, thereby resulting in efficient conversion from DC to AC.
Apart from this, the company also offered visitors at its stall a virtual tour of its manufacturing facilities.
Emerging Tech. Discussed, Footfall Below Expectation
CableCommunity noticed that the focus in POWERGEN India 2025 was on Renewable Energy generation and transmission solutions. Newer technologies such as FACTS and HVDC transmission, and the need to digitise the power grid through the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) were discussed. However, visitor footfall was subdued, and several exhibitors mentioned that the visitor response was below their expectations.
