L&T Wins Metals & Minerals Orders Worth Rs. 10,000–15,000 Cr.

Larsen & Toubro Limited’s (L&T) Metals & Minerals business has secured multiple orders collectively valued between Rs. 10,000 crore and Rs. 15,000 crore for projects in Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Rajasthan.

As per L&T’s press release the company received an order from India’s largest iron ore producer for the development of an 18 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) Iron Ore Handling Plant in Chhattisgarh. It can be inferred that the order has been awarded by NMDC Limited. Scope of work for this NMDC project includes engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of a downhill conveyor system, screening plant, stockpile, yard equipment, a Rapid Wagon Loading System (RWLS), and associated accessories.

For the second order, L&T’s press release stated that the project is from a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) “which has undertaken the expansion of Steel Plant in West Bengal, from 2.5 MTPA to 7.1 MTPA“. It would be safe to deduce that the steel plat in reference is Steel Authority of India Limited’s (SAIL) IISCO Steel Plant, located in Burnpur, Asansol. L&T has been awarded multiple design & build and Balance of Plant (BoP) packages as part of this plant expansion.

Further, L&T has secured an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for a zinc processing plant in Rajasthan. Scope of work includes the design, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the plant. L&T will also be responsible for executing the associated site services.
